22 July 2012

Bradley and I have been quarantined for just shy of 48 hours; yesterday I organized every junk drawer, rearranged our second bedroom into a functioning office and recording studio, prepared three meals, read two back issues of Texas Monthly, watched one-and-a-half movies, and worried that I would go mad with another day of isolation.

But this morning I went for a walk and discovered a street of old brick houses with balconies that look like stepped castle parapets. I made coffee and I sliced pineapple for a breakfast of fresh fruit and migas. I played doctor and I finished another magazine and I did some writing, which made me curious about the state of this ill-treated blog. Who keeps a blog anymore, anyway?

Now I think I'll see what I can put together for dinner. Perhaps this confinement isn't so bad after all.

Greenery in and around Portland, Oregon.

27 February 2012

Dear curious loved ones: I will accept anything (or everything) from Datter Industries for my upcoming birthday. Thank you.

10 January 2012

Not to brag, but I have some pretty babely (not to mention unbelievably smart and talented) gal pals. On more than one occasion, we have been mistaken for a touring band.

And now, after seeing these photos from the amazing Darcy DuBose, I can see why: It must just be that we dress in complimentary tones, and we're always spaced equidistant from one another.

22 October 2011

Life has been busy lately, so I'm rejoicing in a slow weekend. Long jog, big brunch, lazy reading.

It's so infrequent that I get to enjoy the early afternoon sunlight in my home. There's really not much better. I love this pretty, bright Brooklyn studio/apartment (via Miss Moss).

Pretty photos of Morocco by Vic. I'd like to hop on a plane as soon as possible, please.

Oh, Mara Hoffman. You're killing me. (via Honestly... WTF.)

24 September 2011

I snagged a Wiksten tank top + dress sewing pattern this morning; I guess that means it's time to drag out my machine and get to practicing.

10 September 2011

Things I'd like to buy & read: Kinfolk, Interwoven, Baker's Notes.

Dream:

Reality:
These photos by Johann Darcel (via Miss Moss) are making me painfully aware of the relative absence of water in my 2011-summertime-fun.

And the ones of Bastrop post-wildfire (from TPWD) are just breaking my heart.

28 August 2011

Vacation on Isla Mujeres was exactly what I needed. We ate well, we drank cold beer, we fished and swam with whale sharks and visited a turtle farm. We explored every inch of the little island and fell in love with it.

22 August 2011

Yesterday we painted Bradley's studio, and then I packed for family vacation. Until about 7 PM last night, we thought we would be spending the next week on a sailboat in the Bahamas, but circumstances changed - so it looks like I'll be in Mexico until Saturday. When life gives you lemons...

18 August 2011

A handful of silly portraits of a boyfriend and friends who are boys. I still have a lot of scanning to do of negatives from the past year... Hopefully I'll have some time this weekend to get started up again!
